The Lord Directs Our Paths

Psalm 139:13-16

For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my
mother’s womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and
wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths
of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every
one of them,
the days that were formed for
me,
when as yet there was none of
them.

Personal Reflection

As graduation from seminary approaches, I have been reminded that the Lord has a plan for each and every one of us, and that His plan was forged before I was even formed.  In the hustle and bustle of the business world, or the endless assignments, papers, and tests of school, we often become so consumed with what is due next, we forget that God is the one directing our steps. However, when we are in between jobs, finishing school, or starting a new phase of our lives we are quickly reminded that the Lord is the Sovereign ruler of the universe, which includes the jobs we take. He is the one who has sustained us through the countless hours of projects, papers, and tests. He is the one who has placed those difficult circumstances in our lives, shaping and molding us into the men and women He would have us to be, so He can use us how He sees fit. He is the one who will direct our steps into the next phase of life.

As I near the end of my studies, I am thankful for the sustaining power of the Lord, but more importantly I have learned that wherever the Lord places me, He has truly called me to be there. The same is true for you as well. This means, when the Lord provides us with a job, career, or ministry opportunity, we should recognize it for what it is, a calling from the Lord to a particular place, people, and responsibilities. As a result, we should serve Him diligently in the role He has placed us.

A Few Questions to Ask Yourself

In order to serve the Lord in our positions and community best, we should ask a few questions of ourselves:

  1. Why would God place me in this position at this time?
  2. What is it about this city, state, or region that God would see fit to place me there? In other words, do I know a lot of people in this area, or does my skill set suit these people particularly well?
  3. What do I believe God would have me accomplish for His kingdom in this particular place or position?
  4. What skills has He been developing in me that could be used to meet the particular needs of those He has called me to serve, or could be used in the surrounding community?

Conclusion

The Lord directs our steps and sustains us, as well as He uses us to accomplish His will. This means every place we live and every position we are given is from the Lord. As a result, we should seek to understand how we can best serve Him there, and then work that out until He calls us somewhere else. May we all remember this week that the Lord will provide a position for us, as well as that our future position and the position we currently hold, or community in which we currently live, was designed by God, and serves as an opportunity for ministry.

  1. EXCELLENT questions. We are to “Think Gods Thoughts After Him”. In other words God has Revealed His Will for man to the extent of the Revealed Law of God and told us such:

    Deuteronomy 29:29 (ESV) 29 “The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.

    The Ceremonial Law is fulfilled as per Christ’s stipulated requirement for even one iota of the Law to be cast from its station of judgement and instruction. Christ FULFILLED the Sacrifice, Broke Down the wall of jewish/gentile division and set up an eternal Spiritual Wall of division and defined cleanliness in its truest Spiritual and eternal sense. Now, the remaining Moral Law and Civil Law are VERY much in effect; NEVER as a soterial conduit to Justification but a STANDARD of Righteousness (God’s Character, Truth, Life) to measure any man’s spirit against the Spirit of the Law (which is Christ who PERFECTLY obeyed the Law). If the man’s spirit is in Christ, the Law CONFIRMS but IT DOES NOT IMPOSE…. RIGHTEOUSNESS and thus Justification in those who have received the fruit of their Election by Grace which is Faith unto Obedience to the Christ’s COMMAND…”Follow Me”…and in that righteous assent to obedience to Jesus as Messiah, the Elect then has the Lord Jesus Christ’s perfect Righteousness (active obedience to the Law) and Sinlessless (passive obedience to the penalty of our transgressions) IMPUTED (legal designation by God the Father in adherence to the Covenant of Grace) to them unto FULL Justification before God and eternal Security confirmed. Then comes Sanctification and life as an adopted Child of God where the Holy Spirit begins the Sanctification process which means the actual infusing of the Righteousness of Christ Jesus, the perfect man, into the Elect’s person and spirit, thus the capacity to obey the Law of God in Christ’s Infused Righteousness at times in our lives…not perfectly but in moments of realization, carrying in the situation as a whole, the ineffable beauty of the Elect’s heart’s desire matching in perfect Righteous balance, the behavior carried out to address the situation. You are in that place of Sanctification so your writing bears out so carry as the foundation of all your life bears in and to this world from here on …God’s Absolute Sovereignty, Christ Jesus’ Absolute Kingship and Husbandry manifesting the Way for His Flock and the World in the Power of that Sovereignty and the Holy Spirit Proceeding forth from Father and Son unto the manifestation of the Sovereignty’s fullness in the Regeneration of the entirety of the Earth and the Heavens in tandem with His Flock and the Glory of His Omnipotent Righteousness as the Consuming Fire burning away and melting all that corrupts the Perfection on the Horizon, as His enemies WILL BE subverted under His feet and through the Bride He gave His very Life for, He will RULE IN THE MIDST OF HIS ENEMIES…..UNTIL ALL of His Enemies are put under His feet:
    Psalm 110:1-2 (ESV) 1 The LORD says to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.” 2 The LORD sends forth from Zion your mighty scepter. Rule in the midst of your enemies!

    ….and Glory comes to the Horizon’s Scape as the King’s Herald of Return …..and death will finally cry out in the throes of its own oblivion.
    1 Corinthians 15:24-28 (ESV) 24 Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27 For “God has put all things in subjection under his feet.” But when it says, “all things are put in subjection,” it is plain that he is excepted who put all things in subjection under him. 28 When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things in subjection under him, that God may be all in all.

    If, when looking to God’s will for you, these things be the foundation of each answer as much as the foundation to each question….then the question should be a faithful prayer unto what answers God has coming forth, to bring fully to fruition all He wills in the “Spirit of Power, of Love and of a Sound Mind” ….in you. God Bless You Brother– Mel
