About

Hi! My name is Dr. Casey Lewis. First and foremost I am a husband to my beautiful wife and a father to my two sons. I am also a leader with 15+ years of ministerial experience (10+ years as a Senior Pastor and 5+ years in other roles).

I am passionate about the gospel of Jesus, preaching, teaching, discipling, and engaging the community. My desire is to be a disciple who makes disciples that impacts the community and world for Christ.

I strive to be a shepherd leader and to create a church culture where an every member word ministry exists (Eph. 4:12-16), as well as one that is Christ-centered / Gospel-centered in its approach to teaching and ministry. I value expository preaching, and I desire to see the church gather in authentic community, under the preached Word, and then scatter “on mission” to proclaim the gospel to their neighbors and the nations. I desire to see leaders raised up to serve their home church, plant churches, and heed the call to international missions. To that end, the vision I put in place for Eastridge Baptist Church is:

we seek to be a church in community and “on mission” for Jesus making “disciple-making” disciples of all peoples.

This is my personal blog. My desire is to challenge, edify, teach, and create conversations. While I am the primary writer, I also want to hear from you. I believe greater growth comes through conversations, so please, feel free to tell me what you are thinking and challenge my positions.

While I pull from many sources – books, news articles, personal experiences, my teaching series, etc – my primary focus is the gospel. Specifically, how it both saves and sanctifies. With that in mind, you can expect my posts to be gospel-centered, devotional, practical, pastoral, and culturally relevant.

I typically post 1-2 times a week. I would encourage you to subscribe via email so you won’t miss a post. The subscribe link is found in the right sidebar.

My Biography

I was born and raised in Savannah, GA. After high school, I attended the University of Georgia, where I earned a BS in Biology in December of 2004. After receiving my degree, I moved to Atlanta and began a career in recruiting and sales.

After working in the Atlanta office (HQ) for 10 months, I was selected to assist in opening the companies first satellite office in Dallas, TX. Dallas was a blessing. Not only did it provide an opportunity for career advancement, but it was where I met my beautiful wife. 16 months after our first date we were standing at the altar to be married.

In May 2009, we moved to Fort Worth, and I began seminary at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. I graduated with a Master of Divinity in December 2011.

After seminary, I accepted a call to Sycamore Baptist Church in Decatur, TX, where I served as the Senior Pastor for almost 8 years. After Sycamore, I served as the Senior Pastor of Eastridge Baptist Church in Red Oak, TX for over 2 years. Collectively, I have over a decade of experience as a Senior Pastor. And 15+ years of ministerial experience (10+ years as a Senior Pastor and 5+ years in other roles). You can learn more about Eastridge and its ministries by visiting their website Eastridgebc.com. You can also watch my weekly sermons on my sermon audio and video page. There you will find a video playlist of the sermon series I preached at Eastridge Baptist Church.

Doctoral Project

I have also completed a doctorate in expository preaching at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. My project is focused on how the Bible is connected together as one book that is centered on Jesus.

The series takes you through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation from a Christ-centered perspective.
