On Prayer

If all regenerate church members in Western Christendom were to intercede daily simply for…

…the most obvious spiritual concerns visible in their homes, their workplaces, their local churches and denominations, their nations, and the world and the total mission of the body of Christ within it,…

…the transformation which would result would be incalculable.

Not only would God certainly change those situations in response to prayer – we have Christ’s word that if we ask in his name he will do more than we ask or think – but the church’s comprehension of its task would attain an unprecedented sharpness of focus.

Perhaps much of our prayer now should simply be for God to pour out such a spirit of prayer and supplication in the hearts of his people.

Question for Reflection

  1. How is your prayer life?

  1. I wonder if that quote wouldn’t be better used with the word “spiritual” highlighted? I know I and others I have talked with too often petition for OUR concerns, not spiritual concerns. I say all this in response to your question about my prayer life…it needs much more focus on the spiritual needs I see through God’s eyes. My prayer life needs more silence too, time to listen for God’s response instead of just asking for things and then doing what I think I need to do. Or said another way, what I think I can control.

    1. I think you are right. We often focus on our own needs. For that reason, I developed a prayer sheet for our Wednesday night prayer meetings. It is modeled after the Lord’s Prayer. Here are the questions:

      (1) How can we praise God this week?

      (2) How can we pray for God’s will to be done and kingdom to grow? (God’s will in Scripture, Missions both local and international, Personal Outreach, the Church how it functions and supports kingdom growth).

      (3) What personal concerns do we have?

What sins do we need forgiveness from?
What spiritual or physical needs in the community need
prayer?
What physical needs do we need met?
What concerns do we need wisdom or guidance to handle?
  2. Although Facebook is feature rich, the user
interface can be fairly complicated. Social media really is an incredible
tool for business. If you are wondering to be able to buy Facebook likes, determine: How come adverts on kid’s

see why sites reach the top of search engine results. To solve this kind of energy shortage dilemma, simply pick the maniac class.

  5. While Skype will naturally hide old information, there’s no real point to
keeping months worth of conversations on hand. True enough, because of these two apps (assuming internet-access), planet Earth is more
of a village rather than a big, conundrum of countries.

  6. I’ve been browsing online more than 4 hours today, yet I
never found any interesting article like yours.
It’s pretty worth enough for me. Personally, if all site owners and bloggers made good
content as you did, the web will be much more
    useful than ever before.

  7. Sweet blog! I found it while browsing on Yahoo News.
Do you have any suggestions on how to get listed in Yahoo News?
I’ve been trying for a while but I never seem to get
    there! Cheers
