On this side of eternity, Christmas is still a promise. Yes, the Savior has come, and with him peace on earth, but the story is not finished. Yes, there is peace in our hearts, but we long for peace in our world.
Every Christmas is still a “turning of the page” until Jesus returns. Every December 25th marks another year that draws us closer to the fulfillment of the ages, that draws us closer to…home.
Questions for Reflection
- Do you long for peace in the world this Christmas?
- Do you long for home?

I certainly long for peace but know we have been promised suffering. I’m thankful when I feel moments of peace amidst the chaos and turmoil and attacks that come so frequently.
More than that, I long for home. I wake every day hoping this is the day I get to see Jesus. It’s not a morbid thought, not an “I want to die” thought but a thought of victory, of being in the ultimate place, of celebrating the greatest of joys. I long for home.
Amen. That is all I can say to your comment. Amen! Come quickly Lord Jesus!
